DriveRDY is an adapter for operating a PC floppy disc drive on the Amiga. The adapter generates the necessary READY signal for correct operation with the Amiga. The DriveRDY adapter makes almost any 3.5 inch PC disc drive work with the Amiga. This can come from an old PC, for example.
The adapter is designed in such a way that the signal is generated exactly as it is available on the Amiga drives. To achieve this result, the developer (Boris) used reverse engineering to capture the logic level of the Chinon BZ-354 mechanics.
DriveRDY is equipped with 74HCxxx CMOS logic gates. These ICs have a very low power consumption, so that no external power supply interface is required. The power supply simply uses the signals from the disc drive. The adapter simply needs to be plugged in between the FDD and the Amiga.
The adapter has been tested on various FDD PCs (Nec, Sony, Epson, Teac, Samsung, Chinon, Panasonic, etc.), totalling more than 40 floppy drives.
Note:
The adapter has one limitation, with some FDDs it is not possible to use the adapter because it overlaps the power supply of the floppy drive. On some drives, the power supply is located directly above the flat data cable connector and the DriveRDY adapter covers this part. This is the case with some drives from Alps or Mitsumi.
DriveRDY works in DD mode!
Note: HD drive is not included in the scope of delivery.
